BHUTANESE TEXTILES FOR SALE

One of the most charming aspects of life in Bhutan is the population's love of textiles woven with bright colors. These are hanging at the Thimphu market and many take a full year to weave.

MAKE PHOTO! MAKE PHOTO!

Any time our camera was visible, we'd great groups of people who wanted their picture taken...sometimes to look at the digital display and sometimes just for fun.

CHILIES DRYING ON ROOFTOPS

Bhutanese food always comes with a very hot chili paste. A small dab was plenty for us while our guide ate several heaping tablespoons with every meal. Drying chilies were on rooftops everywhere.

TYPICAL VALLEY

Yellow rice paddies terraced across the valleys surrounded by dramatic mountains...the prototypical Bhutanese scene.
